Wyclef Jean can't appeal Haiti election exclusion

Wyclef Jean's presidential hopes have come to an end in Haiti.

A lawyer for the nation's electoral council said Tuesday that a ruling that disqualified the hip-hop star from running for the presidency is final and cannot be appealed, Reuters reported.

The Haitian-born, U.S.-based singer-songwriter had said Sunday that he would appeal against the provisional electoral council's decision, which omitted him from a list of qualified candidates for the Nov. 28 election.

Jean, who left his homeland with his family at age 9 to live in the United States, did not meet residency requirements, council officials said.
