Xzibit Joins Fox Pilot 'Weekends at Bellevue' (Exclusive)

The rapper-actor is added to the Lauren Ambrose-led cast in the medical drama project.

Rapper-actor Xzibit has joined the cast of Fox’s medical drama pilot, Weekends at Bellevue.

The project, from Universal Media Studios and BermanBraun, is based on the memoir of Julie Holland, M.D., which centers on a psychiatrist (Lauren Ambrose) in charge of the weekend shift of Bellevue Hospital's psychiatric unit. It was originally set up at NBC.

Xzibit, whose previous credits include Gridiron Gang, The X-Files: I Want to Believe and MTV’s Pimp My Ride, will play the part of Chuck. He’ll join Ambrose, Janet McTeer (Diane), Amber Stevens (Claire) and Eric Winter (Knox).

Lisa Zwerling (ER, The Event) will write the pilot, with partners Gail Berman and Lloyd Braun serving as executive producers. Jack Bender (Lost, The Sopranos) has been tapped to direct.
