Vikram Ghandhi's film looks at the future president's college years.

Netflix has taken worldwide rights to Barry, Vikram Ghandhi's film about the young Barack Obama, which had its world premiere last week at the Toronto International Film Festival.

Barry stars Devon Terrell as the 20-year-old Obama as he goes about discovering his identity as a transfer student at Columbia University in 1981. The cast also includes Anya Taylor-Joy, Jason Mitchell, Ashley Judd, Ellar Coltrane and Avi Nash.

A joint production of Black Bear Pictures and Cinetic Media, the film was produced by Black Bear's Teddy Schwarzman and Ben Stillman and Cinetic's Dana O'Keefe, along with Ghandhi, and was written by Adam Mansbach.

A critical hit at TIFF, the film — the second movie this year about Obama, following Southside With You — was described by The Hollywood Reporter's Todd McCarthy as "an involving and credible portrait of a smart young man with a good deal of growing and learning yet to do."
