YouTube Red has landed The Rock.

He'll be joined by Doug Liman and Dan Harmon in creating new shows for YouTube's SVOD service, global head of original content Susanne Daniels announced at MIPCOM.

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson will executive produce a new comedy series with Studio 71 and Corridor Digital about a life insurance company that sends its agents forward in time to prevent the accidental deaths of its clients.

Liman is also on board for a new series for the SVOD service, creating Impulse, a sci-fi drama about a young girl who discovers her ability to teleport. The series will feature top YouTubers, Daniels said, without revealing casting. Lost's Jeff Lieber is attached to write and produce.

Community creator Harmon will also produce a comedy about a team of e-sports players in the cutthroat world of competitive gaming starring Dan Avidan and Arin Hanson of Game Grumps.

Since launching, Red has made its mark by producing original series with YouTube stars such as PewDiePie, Daniels noted.

Johnson is part of that trend, she said. “You may not think of him as a YouTube star, but he’s grown his channel to over 1.3 million subscribers in just the last two months,” she said of Johnson.

Daniels also announced it has renewed murder mystery series Escape the Night starring Joey Garceffa for a second season.
