Donald Trump Doc 'You've Been Trumped' to Get Re-Release
Emerging Pictures will distribute in North America the 2011 film following Trump as he steamrolls seaside residents in Scotland to build a mammoth golf course.
Donald Trump has already shown big ratings for his TV appearances during his current U.S. presidential campaign.
Emerging Pictures is about to discover if Trump can drive box office after it unveiled plans Wednesday to re-release the 2011 documentary You've Been Trumped through its digital distribution network of theaters.
The David vs. Goliath film, directed by Anthony Baxter, features Trump's running roughshod over beautiful Scottish seaside and local residents to build a luxury resort and golf course. The resort, which the Scottish Government gave the green light for after a contentious planning inquiry, involves building two golf courses on a site described by scientists as 'the crown jewels of Scotland’s natural heritage' north of Aberdeen.
You've Been Trumped debuted at the 2011 Hot Docs festival in Toronto, and Michael Moore selected the doc for his Traverse City Film Festival that same year, where it won the special jury prize.
"Whether you support him or not, Donald Trump is everywhere these days,” said Ryan Markowitz, vp distribution and marketing at Emerging Pictures in a statement. The all-digital movie distributor will use social media and other online tools to identify and build theatrical box office for You've Been Trumped.
