Zachary Quinto to Be Honored at GLSEN's Respect Awards in L.A.
The actor joins fellow honorees Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel.
Zachary Quinto will join Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel as an honoree at GLSEN’s Respect Awards, scheduled for Oct. 23 at the Beverly Wilshire in Beverly Hills.
The actor will receive the Champion Award, while the organization also announced on Wednesday that Georgia high school senior Mars Hallman has been tapped to receive the Student Advocate of the Year Award. Husband and wife Timberlake and Biel are due to take home the Inspiration Award while YouTube will receive the Chairman’s Award.
Per GLSEN — the national education organization focused on ensuring safe and affirming schools for all students — out actor Quinto is being lauded for his advocacy on behalf of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community. Said GLSEN executive director Dr. Eliza Byard: “We are proud to honor Zachary Quinto as a visible member of the LGBT community who uses his platform to bring attention to the struggles that many LGBT youth still face.”
Past GLSEN Respect Awards honorees Bob Greenblatt, Simon Halls and Matt Bomer, Marilyn and Jeffrey Katzenberg, Jim Parsons and Todd Spiewak, and Julia Roberts and Danny Moder have returned as honorary co-chairs for the 2015 event.
