Zai Bennett steps into ITV acquisitions role

Will attend Los Angeles Screenings in May

LONDON -- ITV2 controller Zai Bennett will take control of ITV's acquisitions portfolio and the broadcaster's digital channels in the newly created role of director of digital channels and acquisitions, it was announced Thursday.

The move follows the departure of director of acquisitions Jay Kandola this month as part of a restructuring process that will see the broadcaster cull some 600 jobs.

Reporting to director of strategy David Bergg, Bennett will take the newly created post of overseeing ITV's four digital webs as well as be in charge of acquisitions across all outlets.

He will attend the Los Angeles Screenings for ITV in May.

The move is part of a restructuring of director of television Peter Fincham's portfolio, which sees him focus on core network ITV1.

ITV3 controller Emma Tenant will take the new position of controller of digital channels, reporting to Bennett.

ITV said this month that acquisitions would "play a lesser role" for the broadcaster in future years.
