The former Kennedy/Marshall Co. president starts a Vancouver-based Canadian filmed entertainment distributor.

TORONTO – Former Kennedy/Marshall Co. president Zanne Devine is launching a Canadian film distributor Pacific Northwest Pictures.

The Vancouver-based company will acquire, produce and release Canadian filmed entertainment across all distribution platforms. Emily Alden will run the Vancouver-based outfit as vp of production and development, while Devine splits her time between Los Angeles and Vancouver.

Pacific Northwest Pictures’ 2011 slate includes Michael Melski’s Charlie Zone, currently shooting in Nova Scotia, with Amanda Crew top-lining, and Sisters & Brothers, another Amanda Crew-starrer, this time a comedy by Carl Bessai that also stars Cory Monteith and Dustin Milligan.

Also in the pipeline is Rain Down, from Alyson Drysdale, and You Are Here, the first feature from Daniel Cockburn.

Devine is originally from Toronto, but in recent years has established a presence in the Vancouver film community with husband and local producer Kirk D’Amico. Her most recent film credits include the 2010 comedy Easy A, starring Emma Stone and Stanley Tucci.
