Zurich: 'Borg/McEnroe' to Open 2017 Fest

The tennis biopic, starring Shia LaBeouf and Sverrir Gudnason, will have its world premiere opening night at the Toronto International Film Festival on Thursday.

Tennis thriller Borg/McEnroe, which will open the Toronto International Film Festival later this week, has also been picked as the opening-night film for the this year's Zurich International Film Festival.

Directed by Danish helmer Janus Metz Pedersen, the film stars Shia LaBeouf and Sverrir Gudnason as legendary grass-court rivals John McEnroe and Bjorn Borg, respectively. The focus of the film is their epic match at the Wimbledon finals on July 5, 1980.

Gudnason and Pedersen will attend Zurich for the film's Swiss premiere on Sept. 28. Ascot Elite will bow Borg/McEnroe in Switzerland in October.

The 2017 Zurich Film Festival is set to run Sept. 28-Oct.8.
