Greta Gerwig's 'Little Women' Won't Screen at Cannes
Contrary to speculative reports, Greta Gerwig's feature adaptation of Little Women will not be screening at May's Cannes Film Festival.
The Sony film — Gerwig's first behind the camera since 2017's Lady Bird, for which she received a best director Oscar nomination — was shot last year, and production only wrapped on Dec. 15.
Sources close to the project — which stars Lady Bird's Saoirse Ronan and Timothee Chalamet, as well as Florence Pugh, Emma Watson, Laura Dern, Bob Odenkirk, Chris Cooper and Meryl Streep — tell THR that Gerwig, who gave birth to her first child in January, is still very much in postproduction, and that it remains unclear if the film will play any festivals en route to its release on Christmas Day.
The 72nd Cannes Film Festival will run May 14-25.
