Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone, the stars of Damien Chazelle's modern-day musical La La Land, have been tapped to share the Outstanding Performer of the Year Award at the 2017 Santa Barbara International Film Festival, the fest announced Friday. It's only the second time this award will be shared.

Gosling previously was honored by the fest as the inaugural recipient of the Cinema Vanguard Award in 2008. This marks the first time Stone has been honored by the fest. The two previously shared scenes in 2011's Crazy, Stupid, Love and 2013's Gangster Squad.

The ceremony will take place at Santa Barbara's historic Arlington Theatre on Feb. 3 as part of SBIFF's 32nd edition, which is set to run Feb. 1-11.

"Ryan and Emma’s luminous performances in La La Land remind us of the transformative and magical role of cinema," SBIFF executive director Roger Durling said in a statement. "We are so proud to celebrate them and this incredible film and its nod to the classic love stories of Old Hollywood with a contemporary twist."

The fest's previous Outstanding Performer Award recipients include Brie Larson and Saoirse Ronan (2016), Steve Carell (2015), Cate Blanchett (2014), Jennifer Lawrence (2013), Viola Davis (2012), James Franco (2011), Colin Firth (2010), Penelope Cruz (2009), Angelina Jolie (2008), Helen Mirren (2007), Heath Ledger (2006), Kate Winslet (2005) and Charlize Theron (2004).
