Sick of Trump? Hollywood Producer's Daughter Creates Filter for Social Media
Donald Trump may make good on his promise to “build that wall,” but a Hollywood producer’s daughter has erected her own presidential barricade.
Emily Kaufman, 21, whose father is Sin City: A Dame to Kill For producer Aaron Kaufman, created the “A Wall Against Trump” filter, an extension that filters out all references to the president from social media feeds as well as news sites.
"Trump was everywhere and I needed a break," explains Emily Kaufman, a student at Miami Ad School. "The idea was, 'What if we make him into an internet refugee for a day? How are we going to make a change without taking a break?'" It took her about two weeks (and $50 for software) to get "A Wall Against Trump" running.
A number of celebrities including Rose McGowan have signed up for the free extension (available at www.awallagainsttrump.com) and are enjoying a Trump-less existence online.
“If I could upload A Wall Against Trump directly to my brain, I would,” McGowan tells THR. “The wimpy quote-unquote men who control the cable news networks have been too scared to stand up to the misogynist-in-chief. It gives me great pleasure to know that a young girl has figured out how to ban him from our most precious border, the border of our minds. Build a wall, indeed. Take some notes, fellas.”
The younger Kaufman, who was inspired by a Kardashian filter currently available, says she recommends that customers only use it for a day, even though some have told her that they are using it longer. “I don’t think you should,” she says. “You should know what’s going on in the world.”
