Inside CNN's Boozy Afterparty at the Democratic National Convention

At Philly's Wells Fargo Center, where the Democratic National Convention took place, no alcohol was served and the criminally overpriced pizza was barely edible. So it came as no surprise that the hottest draw on the final night was the complimentary, all-you-can-eat-and-drink CNN Grill. (Stephen Colbert, Shailene Woodley, David Schwimmer and Samantha Bee stopped in on other days.) As Hillary Clinton basked in a post-speech afterglow, and her husband amused himself with the giant balloons, the Grill, one of the few venues within walking distance, filled to capacity for a raucous afterparty.

Preppy fanboys sought selfies with Wolf Blitzer, who, glass of rosé in hand, obliged. CNN's John King and Gloria Borger joined Glee's Kevin McHale for a "Sweet Caroline" sing-along. Deviled eggs, Korean-style chicken wings and "cheesesteak egg rolls with Sriracha ketchup" were on the menu. Specialty cocktails (Presidential Punch contained cherry limeade and white rum) and a sundae bar kept guests sated, and on their way out, they could select from a wall of buttons. The Rambling Reporter chose one that read, "I CNN Politics." Whatever that means.
