Mark Ruffalo, Gretchen Mol and Michael Cera are set to headline a virtual production of Kenneth Lonergan's Hold on to Me Darling.

Scheduled for Oct. 11 (4 p.m. PT/7 p.m. ET), the live reading will be streamed on new tech platform IN.LIVE and feature the three actors performing from remote locations but using similar backdrops and lighting to make it appear that they are sharing the same stage. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Stella Adler Academy, where Ruffalo once studied.

Hold on to Me Darling — performed Off-Broadway at the Atlantic Theater Company in 2016 — follows country music star Strings McCrane who begins to question the meaning of life following the death of his mother. Determined to abandon his career, he moves home to Tennessee. Neil Pepe, who directed the stage version, is returning to direct the virtual event.

“It’s been a long time since any of us have gotten to act. I can say I miss it for sure. We get to do a Kenneth Lonergan play with a great group of actors for a worthy cause in the time of COVID. What more can you ask for?" Ruffalo offers in a statement about the production. "The play is funny and touching in turns."

Following the live reading, Ruffalo, Mol and Cera will join Lonergan and Pepe for a Q&A. The project reunites the trio with Lonergan with whom they had previously worked. Ruffalo and Cera starred in the original Off-Broadway and Broadway productions of This Is Our Youth. Ruffalo also broke out early in his career in the film You Can Count on Me. Mol appeared in Lonergan's film Manchester by the Sea.
