The Democratic Party of Georgia is readying to host a special holiday guest: Elf.

On Dec. 13, Will Ferrell will be joined by castmates and special guests Zooey Deschanel, Bob Newhart, Edward Asner, Mary Steenburgen, Amy Sedaris, Andy Richter, Kyle Gass, Danny Woodburn, John Lithgow, Ed Helms, Busy Phillips and Matt Walsh in a special live stream event. Also appearing: Jon Favreau of Pod Save America, not to be confused with the director of the same name who helmed the 2003 classic comedy for New Line Cinema. Hovercast is producing the event as the virtual event platform and live stream producer.

Ashley Nicole Black will host the Elf reunion, which serves as a fundraiser for the Georgia run-off election in support of Democratic Senate challengers Jon Ossoff and Rev. Raphael Warnock. “I'm excited to bring Buddy back to the small screen to benefit the critical Senate runoff elections in Georgia," said Ferrell, who, with wife Viveca, are longtime Democratic supporters. We need new leadership in the U.S. Senate, and I'm hoping that Buddy and the rest of the Elf cast, can play a small role in delivering that change.”

Added Jason Esteves, treasurer of the Democratic Party of Georgia: “Elf is a holiday classic for families every year, and now, with this reunion on the eve of early voting in Georgia, it’s going to share warmth and joy and help more Georgia voters than ever before make their voices heard. This holiday season, Georgia Democrats know that the best way to spread holiday cheer will be voting loud for all to hear."

The event is the latest in string of high-profile reunions during the crush of the campaign cycle that saw casts from such projects as The Princess Bride, Seinfeld, Parks and Recreation, Star Trek, Spinal Tap, The Avengers, Superbad, Dazed and Confused, Private Practice and Happy Days, Hocus Pocus and Rocky Horror Picture Show gather online for virtual fundraisers.

The Georgia run-off election — a crucial battleground that will determine control of the United States Senate — has been buoyed by a Veep reunion as well as the upcoming Elf event. The election will be held Jan. 5. More information can be found here.
