IFC Midnight Picks Up Tribeca Horror Film 'Saint'

The slasher flick will have its premiere in New York tonight.

IFC Midnight has acquired U.S. distribution rights to the genre nugget Saint, which is about to have its premiere Thursday night at the Tribeca Film Festival, from XYZ Films.

Dick Maas wrote and directed the Dutch slasher film, which envisions ol' Saint Nick as a killer bishop offing people in Amsterdam under a December full moon as a local teen fights back. Huub Stapel, Egbert-Jan Weeber, Caro Lenssen, Bert Luppes and Escha Tanihatu star. Maas also produced the film with Tom de Mol.

“Dick Maas has created a high-octane, extraordinarily chilling film that is truly unlike anything we’ve seen before," said Sundance Selects/IFC Films president Jonathan Sehring.

Sundance Selects/IFC Films exec Arianna Bocco negotiated the deal with Nate Bolotin of XYZ Films on behalf of the filmmakers.
