It seems that nearly everything that the Kardashian-Jenners touch turns to gold, which is presumably why FWRD has appointed Kendall Jenner as its new creative director.
Jenner — known for her sleek, ’90s-inspired style and artful silhouettes — will be tasked with curating the luxury fashion e-tailer’s brands, directing the website’s design, creating monthly edits, and brainstorming marketing ideas, partnerships and activations. Per FWRD, the star will officially step into her role during this month’s New York Fashion Week. The online retailer was originally founded by Hollywood stylist Elyse Walker (who is no longer involved in the company) in partnership with Revolve Group.
The title is the latest addition to the former Keeping Up with the Kardashians star-turned-top supermodel‘s resume. Jenner follows in her entrepreneurial family’s footsteps, having launched 818 Tequila earlier this year.
In a statement, Jenner explains, “I grew up loving fashion and have been incredibly fortunate to work with some of the most brilliant people in this business. As FWRD’s creative director, I am excited to help curate the site’s offering with emerging designers and brands.”
Michael Mente, co-CEO and co-founder of Revolve Group, calls Fwrd’s new creative director “the perfect choice as we continue to invest in the next generation luxury consumer. We have always had an extreme admiration for Kendall’s style, creativity, and overall exquisite taste. Her multifaceted experience in the fashion industry and the vision she has outlined for the FWRD business has the potential to transform our business and the luxury business as a whole.”
Revolve Group chief brand officer Raissa Gerona adds, “Kendall is the epitome of luxury fashion, and there isn’t a better fit for this position. As leaders in the industry and innovators in marketing, we are always looking for fresh ideas, staying ahead of the curve, and being at the forefront of style trends. The world looks at Kendall to lead the industry, and we are beyond excited to have her vision for FWRD come to life.”
To celebrate her new post, Jenner stars in a fall campaign shot by British photographer Glen Luchford (a regular Gucci collaborator) in the star’s hometown of Los Angeles and styled by Carlos Nazario (who has worked with Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Naomi Campbell and Lizzo, and was the first Black stylist to dream up a Vogue cover).
Jenner also selected her top picks for fall, and the 18-piece curation ($85 to $3,500) includes everyday staples such as ivory high-waisted knitted briefs by Aisling Camps and sleek green eco leather boots by Gia Borghini to bags by Balenciaga, Bottega Veneta and The Row. The autumn edit also includes a curve-hugging knitted lavender dress by Acne Studios and a stainless steel mesh dress by Fanni Schiavoni. (We expect to see them all on Jenner the next time she’s snapped outside of a club.)
