Petra Flannery

WHY SHE MATTERS
She dressed two of this awards season’s majors: American Hustle‘s Amy Adams and Homeland‘s Claire Danes. But even with such high stakes, Flannery prefers not to play it safe, i.e., Emma Stone‘s love-it-or-hate-it Chanel separates at the Globes.

HER NEW GET
Flannery added Adams to her roster last summer. At the 2013 New York Film Festival’s closing night, the actress wowed the crowd in a lavender Prabal Gurung long-sleeved sheath (No. 5).
HER TOP LOOKS
Oscar nominee Adams channeled her Hustle character with a plunging Valentino Shanghai Collection burgundy and red gown (No. 6) at the Globes.
OSCAR PHILOSOPHY
Flannery first and foremost looks at silhouettes and color. “What shapes flatter that person, what shades work and what feels right in conjunction with the style of the dress,” says Flannery. “The wrong color can take away from the elegance of a design.”

SIGNATURE STYLE
The Los Angeles-based stylist, who grew up in California, likes classic modern designs. She says, “I quite like a boyish feel in clothes, a la Celine.”
ULTIMATE STYLE ICON
Saldana. “Every time we do a fitting, I want to wear what she puts on. I just want to look as good as her in clothes!”
