30 Rock alum Matt Hubbard is staying put at Universal Television.
The Emmy-winning writer-producer has inked a new two-year overall deal with the studio, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
Under the pact, Hubbard will develop and supervise new projects for the studio as well as executive produce Fox’s Universal Television comedy Cabot College, which reteams him with 30 Rock‘s Tina Fey and Robert Carlock. (The comedy about a women’s college that opens its doors to men for the first time, starring Margaret Cho and Bonnie Dennison, has a series commitment attached.)

“Matt is a funny, smart writer with the ability to write hard jokes and great story. We are excited to be producing his show Cabot College. He had an amazing run on 30 Rock for us, and we look forward to continuing our relationship with him,” Universal Television exec vp Bela Bajaria said.
Hubbard is currently serving as a consulting producer on NBC’s critical darling Parks and Recreation and spent the past seven seasons as a writer-producer on NBC’s 30 Rock, most recently as a co-EP.
During his run on the Fey-starrer, Hubbard won an outstanding writing Emmy in 2009 for his work on the “Reunion” episode. He earned additional writing nominations in 2010 and 2011 and shared in the comedy series’ Emmy wins in 2008 and 2009 as well as its nominations in 2011, 2012 and 2013, plus the show’s first PGA Award nominations in 2013 and 2014. He was part of the show’s WGA Award wins for best comedy from 2008 to 2010 as well as nominations in 2007 and 2011 through 2014 and was individually nominated for best episodic comedy in 2008, 2010 and 2011.
Hubbard is repped by UTA and Hansen Jacobson. He joins 30 Rock alums Fey, Alec Baldwin and Jack Burditt, among others, at the studio.
