‘7 Days in Hell’ Duo Returning to HBO With Doping Mockumentary

Murray Miller and Andy Samberg have picked their next sporting event to spoof. The team behind 7 Days in Hell are going from a storied tennis rivalry to a thinly veiled parody of Lance Armstrong’s tainted time on the bike.

The duo’s Legends of Sport shingle is currently developing Tour de Pharmacy at HBO, a mockumentary that will take a look into the prevalence of doping in the world of professional cycling. Miller will write and Samberg will star — and the actor is not alone. Though the project is currently casting, Daveed Diggs, Julia Ormond, Phylicia Rashad, Will Forte,  Dolph Lundgren, John Cena, Mike Tyson and Nathan Fielder are among those already attached to appear.

Instances and allegations of doping have plagued competitive cycling for over a century, but controversy has followed the sport (particularly the Tour de France) aggressively for the last two decades. Armstrong was famously stripped of seven Tour titles in 2012 after he admitted to doping.

Miller and Samberg’s first collaboration, 7 Days in Hell, premiered on HBO in 2015, taking cues from a slew of past sports documentaries in its retelling of a fictional weeklong Wimbledon men’s final. It featured a sprawling cast, with Game of Thrones star Kit Harrington appearing opposite Samberg as one of the two tennis-playing protagonists.

David Bernad is executive producing Tour de Pharmacy alongside Miller and Samberg, with M. Elizabeth Hughes set to produce and 7 Days helmer Jake Szymanski is back as director and co-exec producer.

The duo currently have full plates outside of Legends of Sport. Miller is an executive producer on the upcoming final season of Girls. And Samberg, currently starring in Universal’s Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping, will return for a fourth season of Fox comedy Brooklyn Nine-Nine in the fall.

Miller is repped by UTA and Rohner, Walerstein and Miloknay; Samberg, also at UTA, is repped by Rise Management and Ziffren Brittenham.
