ABC has picked up a pair of comedy pitches from two very different voices.
The first project, Loosely Related, hails from Arrested Development producer Barbie Adler and revolves around a former slut who tries to change her life and goes in search of her two sons’ baby daddies and winds up forming an unlikely family. ABC bought the pitch in the room.
Adler, who was a co-executive producer on last season’s Perfect Couples, was a producer on Arrested Development. Repped by WME, her credits also include Miss Guided and My Name Is Earl.
The second project, Cartoon Marriage, is a family comedy executive produced by former Alias star Jennifer Garner and based on the book by married New Yorker cartoonists Michael Maslin and Liza Donnelly. Garner and her producing partner Juliana Janes will executive produce through their Vandalia Films shingle. Less Than Perfect creator Terri Minsky will adapt the project.
ABC Studios is behind both projects.
Meanwhile, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that the studio is pitching a comedy series from Coquette Productions’ Courteney Cox and David Arquette dubbed Ten Years, as first reported by TV Line.
The project, which will be pitched to ABC under Cox’s first-look deal with the studio, explores the ups and downs of relationships across a group of friends spanning 10 years.
Ten Years comes three months after the separated couple sold the game show pilot Identity Crisis to CBS. The concept, from Magical Jade Productions, revolves around teams of two that must identify the names of famous people. Late Late Show host Craig Ferguson was being eyed as a potential host for the project.
