ABC has scheduled freshman series Scandal and Don’t Trust the B—- in Apartment 23, moving Shonda Rhimes’ Private Practice to the post-Dancing With the Stars Tuesday slot.
Rhimes’ Kerry Washington D.C.-set political fixer drama will premiere in the post-Grey’s Anatomy slot, bowing Thursday, April 5 at 10 p.m.
To make room for the new Rhimes pairing, the prolific showrunner’s Grey’s Anatomy spinoff Private Practice will be tested to see how it fares without its longtime lead-in Tuesdays at 10 p.m., following Dancing With the Stars starting April 24. It will hold the slot through May 15.
Meanwhile, its Krysten Ritter, James Van Der Beek and Dreama Walker comedy Don’t Trust the B—- in Apartment 23 will launch in the plumb post-Modern Family slot on Wednesday, April 11 at 9:30 p.m., after Happy Endings completes its second season.
In addressing reporters Tuesday at the Television Critics Association’s winter press tour in Pasadena, ABC Entertainment topper Paul Lee expressed confidence in both series in launching them behind the network’s top drama and comedy series.
A return date, however, for the unscheduled Cougar Town, has not been determined.
