ABC News is becoming Yahoo! News’ premiere video content partner through an expansion of their current deal, the companies are set to announce Wednesday.
Under the new agreement, ABC News will double the amount of content it contributes to Yahoo! News, including clips of breaking news stories as well as additional features and interviews like video segments from “Good Morning America” and “20/20.”
The deal extends the current relationship between ABC News and Yahoo! News, which began in September 2005 and provides ad-supported video free to Yahoo! users.
“We’ve worked very hard in the last year to make it a bigger partnership, and this agreement just steps up our relationship with the top video news provider,” said Neil Budde, general manager of Yahoo! News. “ABC News has lots of assets that work well with us, and our users have responded.”
While Scott Moore, Yahoo! Media Group head of news and information, noted that the video streams on Yahoo! News have increased more than tenfold during the past year, Budde described the new agreement as a deeper partnership in which Yahoo! will be in greater communication with ABC’s newsroom.
“It’s going to go beyond just them providing the video,” Budde said, noting that Yahoo! News also will continue news content relationships with its other video providers, including BBC, the Associated Press and Reuters.
ABC News video will continue to be integrated throughout Yahoo! News — including on its front page and within other special sections on the site and relevant story pages — but will be showcased more prominently.

Yahoo! News is the most popular news site on the Internet, according to Nielsen//NetRatings data for the week ending Nov. 26, averaging 10.3 million unique visitors.
