On Thursday’s Good Morning America, Adam Sandler began by bringing up comedian (and Eddie Murphy’s brother) Charlie Murphy, who died Wednesday, saying he “loved” him.
“My respect to his family — I’m thinking of all of you,” Sandler said. “He was the sweetest guy to see and talk to, and we’re all going to miss him very much.”
“He just stood out, you just got so happy seeing Charlie, anywhere you saw him.” added Sandler, somberly. “He was just a good, good person.”
Charlie Murphy died from leukemia on Wednesday. The Chappelle’s Show comedian was mourned by the comedy community following his death.
“We just lost one of the funniest most real brothers of all time. Charlie Murphy RIP,” Chris Rock wrote on Twitter.
“Our hearts are heavy with the loss today of our son, brother, father, uncle and friend Charlie,” the Murphy family said in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter. “Charlie filled our family with love and laughter, and there won’t be a day that goes by that his presence will not be missed. Thank you for the outpouring of condolences and prayers. We respectfully ask for privacy during this time of great loss for all of us.”
