Fox is ready to put a comedic spin on The X-Files.
Ghosted is described as a comedic take on The X-Files and centers on Leroy Wright (Robinson), a cynical, hilarious skeptic, and Max Allison (Adam Scott), a genius “true believer” in the paranormal, who are hired by the Underground Investigative Service to look into the rampant “unexplained” activity in Los Angeles — all while uncovering a larger mystery that could threaten the existence of the human race.
Tom Gormican (That Awkward Moment) will pen the script and executive produce alongside Robinson, Scott and his wife and producing partner Naomi Scott, as well as 3 Arts’ Mark Schulman and Oly Obst. The comedy hails from 20th Century Television, 3 Arts and the Scotts’ Getting Rad Productions.
The comedy reunites Scott and Robinson, who previously starred together in 2015’s Hot Tub Time Machine 2. Should the project move to series, it would mark Scott’s return to broadcast comedy following his memorable role on NBC’s Parks and Rec. His other credits include HBO’s upcoming limited series Big Little Lies. Robinson, meanwhile, is poised to host Spike’s Caraoke Showdown series and last starred on NBC’s short-lived Mr. Robinson in addition to an arc on USA Network’s Mr. Robot and multiple guest spots on Fox’s Brooklyn Nine-Nine.
Robinson is repped by UTA, 3 Arts and Matthew Johnson; Scott is with WME, Rise Management and Skip Brittenham.
