Porn stars are popping up all over pay cable these days. Just a week after news broke that HBO’s True Detective would be enlisting some adult-film stars for its upcoming season, one of the most familiar names in the industry has booked a gig on the upcoming Showtime comedy Happyish.
The Hollywood Reporter has learned that James Deen is set to play himself in an episode of the new series, where he’ll offer his advice on how to succeed in the adult-film industry and corporate America. (The same rules apparently apply.)
This is not the first mainstream foray for Deen, whose recent adult-film credits include My Sister’s First Anal 2, Eternal Passion 4 and MILFs Seeking Boys 9. He made headlines back in 2013 when he and Lindsay Lohan starred in Paul Schrader and Bret Easton Ellis‘ wildly divisive The Canyons.
Happyish, which stars Steve Coogan, Kathryn Hahn and Bradley Whitford, premieres April 26. Originally a vehicle for the late Philip Seymour Hoffman, the show follows a middle-aged man (Coogan) struggling with the pursuit of happiness after he finds himself working for a 25-year-old. The freshman season currently is shooting in New York.
Deen is repped by Nocturnal Entertainment.
