Forget HBO’s Newsroom. Newsreaders is the show that really digs into what it means to be a TV journalist.
The latest spinoff from Adult Swim’s Childrens Hospital, the forthcoming series follows a news magazine show as it tackles compelling topics—from romance to dogs to “gay stuff.” Clearly, this isn’t one of those news shows that worries about being politically correct or respecting the boundaries of good taste.
Childrens Hospital vets Rob Corddry, Jonathan Stern and David Wain created the show, which stars Mather Zickel as host Louis La Fonda.
The first season has lined up an impressive roster of guest stars, some of whom can be seen in the trailer: Katie Aselton, Ed Begley Jr., Lizzy Caplan, Garret Dillahunt, Dave Foley, Rachael Harris, Dennis Haysbert, Tom Lennon, Joey McIntyre, Mary Lynn Rajskub, Dan Rather, Brandon Routh and Jane Seymour.
Newsreaders premieres Jan. 17 at midnight.
