Agent Carter has been unleashed.
The two-hour premiere saw Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell) come to the aid of friend Howard Stark (Dominic Cooper) with a little help from the sarcastic manservant Jarvis (James Darcy).
But if you think you know what’s next for the ABC series, Atwell promises you are probably wrong.
“It takes a completely different turn,” Atwell tells The Hollywood Reporter. “It’s exciting the direction it takes.”

She says while fans might assume next week’s episode will set the show up for being a mystery of the week series — with the gang tracking down a different Stark invention every week — that’s not the case.
“It’s really clever the way the writers stayed on top of everything,” Atwell says of the twists yet to come. “Just when the audience goes, ‘Alright, I know what the show is,’ it goes into a different direction.”
Atwell has already appeared in two Captain America films, and is rumored to appear in July’s Ant-Man, which fans speculate will include flashbacks to the 1960s, as Michael Douglas is set to play original Ant-Man Hank Pym. Atwell is mum on her Marvel film future, but says there are plenty of possibilities for Peggy to pop up.

“Because it’s the Marvel Universe, it can go anywhere. We can time jump and we can do things more conventional genres can’t,” Atwell says. “If audiences keep liking Peggy, hopefully she will pop up in different worlds. I would certainly jump at the chance because I love playing her.”
Agent Carter airs on Tuesdays at 8 p.m. on ABC.
