AP Images/InvisionABC’s Agents of SHIELD is adding another high-profile guest to its cast.
Battlestar Galactica alum Edward James Olmos has booked a role on the second season of the Marvel drama, the company announced Thursday.
The Miami Vice and Dexter grad will guest-star as Robert Gonzales, a character whose debut will have massive repercussions for Coulson (Clark Gregg) and his team. It’s unclear just how many episodes Olmos will appear in. The character will make his debut in a March episode.

For Olmos, the role will mark his largest TV role since his season-long arc on Showtime’s Dexter. The Emmy winner (Miami Vice) is repped by CAA and Untitled Entertainment.
Olmos joins L.A. Law alum Blair Underwood with a key role in the second half of Agents of SHIELD‘s sophomore run. Underwood, who will also make his debut in March, will portray Melinda May’s (Ming-Na Wen) estranged ex-husband, Dr. Andrew Garner. Lucy Lawless and Adrianne Palicki guest-starred in the first half of the season.
Agents of SHIELD returns Tuesday, March 3, at 9 p.m. on ABC.
