Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD offered a packed Ballroom 20 some clues for season two.
Among the revelations to the Comic-Con crowd: confirmation that Lucy Lawless will be coming on board the ABC series as a longtime SHIELD veteran.

“She’s tough. She may have a knife that’s always by her side,” said executive producer Maurissa Tancharoen.
Also joining the cast is Nick Blood, an unknown British actor. He’ll play a mercenary Clark Gregg‘s Coulson reaches out to for help.
Reed Diamond (Homicide: Life on the Street) is also joining the cast as “one of our Hyda baddies.” said executive producer Jed Whedon.
Season two started shooting Thursday, so there wasn’t any footage to show. A video message Patton Oswalt promised lots of Hydra badguys.
“We are starting from scratch and it isn’t going to be easy. But we have some good people, and some secret weapons,” he said. “We’re going to keep fighting the good fight.”
Gregg talked about how giddy being named SHIELD director made him in the season one finale.

Earlier in Agent Carter segment of the ABC/Marvel panel, it was revealed Captain America: Winter Soldier directors Anthony and Joe Russo would be directing two episodes of the series.
“We see the cost psychologically and emotionally of someone taking on extreme pressure,” said star Hayley Atwell.
Agents of SHIELD returns Sept. 23 at 9 p.m. on ABC.
