Fox News Channel is giving Ainsley Earhardt a bigger platform, moving her from Fox & Friends First to morning flagship Fox & Friends.
Earhardt will officially join Steve Doocy and Brian Kilmeade as co-host Feb. 29, just two months after former occupant Elisabeth Hasselbeck departed the program.
“Ainsley’s relentless work ethic, congeniality and enthusiasm for connecting with our viewers and staff are extremely refreshing,” said Fox News chairman and CEO Roger Ailes in making the announcement. “She’s a superb team player and an excellent on-air host — we look forward to her joining the show during such a pivotal news year.”
Much like the network did with Fox & Friends before Earhardt’s move, the empty Fox & Friends First spot will be filled by a roster of rotating guests before a permanent replacement is tapped. Earhardt joined Fox News in 2007, and her tenure has seen her serve as substitute co-host for both Fox & Friends and Fox & Friends Weekend.
“I am grateful for this opportunity and am thrilled to join Steve and Brian on the curvy couch to deliver Americans their morning news,” Earhardt said Tuesday.
