Alec Baldwin’s now-infamous removal from an American Airlines flight got him removed from the airwaves – at least for a week during the holidays.
After word spread that the 30 Rock actor was removed from a flight at the Los Angeles Airport when he refused to turn off his phone for take-off, some people complained about his appearance in commercials for Wegmans Food Markets.

The New York grocery store chain was planning on airing their ads that feature Baldwin for three weeks in December. After complaints from some customers, the ads were pulled from the air one week early.
But it turns out that there are more fans than critics of the actor because as soon as the ads were pulled, calls began flooding in for the commercials to be reinstated. Wegmans Food Markets decided to bring back the ads after the outcry.

“We regret ending the Alec Baldwin holiday commercials one week earlier than planned in response to a couple of dozen complaints. We have decided to run the commercials again, effective immediately,” a rep from the chain said in a statement.

“Clearly, many more people support Alec, as evidenced by the hundreds and hundreds of tweets, emails, and phone calls we have received,” added the rep.
Baldwin filmed the commercials in 2010. He was hired for the ads after he mention that his mother, who lives in the Syracuse area, was a loyal customer of Wegmans Food Markets.
Baldwin was removed from an American Airlines flight headed for New York on Dec. 6. He later issued a sarcastic apology, and then went on Saturday Night Live to make light of the controversy, playing an American Airlines pilot in a skit with Seth Meyers.
