As a way to say farewell to the long-running soap opera she created in 1970, Agnes Nixon will reprise her role as Agnes Eckhardt on All My Children this month.
Nixon, dubbed “queen of the modern soap opera,” has written for such other soap operas as Another World, Guiding Light, As the World Turns and Search for Tomorrow before creating the long-running ABC soap in 1970.

Nixon first appeared on AMC in 2005 as Agnes Eckhardt, a role she created specifically to celebrate the show’s 35th anniversary.

When Nixon returns to Pine Valley this month, she’ll be admitted to the hospital where Cara (Lindsay Hartley) and David (Vincent Irizarry) tend to her. She’ll also cross paths with Erica Kane (Susan Lucci).
Nixon’s appearance marks the latest in a long string of guest stars – including Carol Burnett, Josh Duhamel and Sarah Michelle Gellar — that have been booked for the beloved soap opera since ABC announced its decision to end the series in April.
AMC is set to air its final episode on the network on Friday, Sept. 23. Lifestyle seriesThe Chew will debut Monday, Sept. 26 at 1 p.m.
