Positioned as a half-hour weekly series, tentatively titled Now What With Amanda de Cadenet, the show will explore America’s current cultural moment through its host’s feminist lens.
“It’s a historically significant time to be a woman — and an incredibly divisive time in our culture,” said de Cadenet. “People are really struggling to navigate the new and ever-evolving social paradigms that are currently taking shape. I’m excited and ready to explore the nuanced conversations and heated debates that all genders are having, both online and in private to make sense of how the hell we got here, and most importantly; how do we move forward in the most effective way?”
The news, announced by Showtime Networks programming president Gary Levine, comes after a string of high-profile talent pacts for the cable outfit. Just days ago, comedian Sacha Baron Cohen announced a weekly series for the network. And, in the news and opinion space, Showtime also just scooped cult podcasters Desus Nice and The Kid Mero from Viceland for a new show as well.
The pilot is being produced for Showtime by Matador Content and R.J. Cutler’s Cutler Productions. Cindi Leive, the longtime Glamour editor in chief who departed in 2017, is also on board as a consulting producer.
Inuka Bacote and Danielle Oexmann will serve as co-showrunners.
De Cadenet is repped by CAA, Untitled Entertainment and Jackoway Tyerman.
