American Horror Story might have a new rival for Jessica Lange.
Big Love‘s Chloe Sevigny is near a deal to join the FX horror anthology series for its rebooted second season, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.
As first reported by EW, Sevigny would play Shelly the Nymphomaniac, a foil for Lange’s character in the drama from Glee co-creators Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk.

American Horror Story‘s second season will feature a new premise, location and while it will there will be some returning cast members, they’ll all play characters completely different from their Season 1 roles.
Murphy revealed earlier this month that Season 2 would take place at an East Coast institution for the criminally insane that would be run by Lange’s character, potentially set in a different era as well.

“It’s a completely different world and has nothing to do with Season 1; there’s not a mention of Season 1,” he said recently. “The second season is set in a completely different time period.”

In addition to Lange, Zachary Quinto, Evan Peters,Sarah Paulson and Lily Rabe will return, with new cast members including The Voice‘s Adam Levine and French actress Lizzie Brochere joining the series for Season 2.
Sevigny, repped by WME and Brillstein Entertainment, starred on HBO’s Big Love from 2006-11 and recently popped up on NBC’s Law & Order: SVU.
