FX’s American Horror Story saw an expected drop in the ratings for its second episode.
Compared to premiere week, the Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk-created horror drama dipped 14 percent among adults 18-49 (1.75 million vs. 2.04 million), but the double-digit drop is on par with week-to-week comparisons with Justified and The Shield. (Both dramas dipped 13 percent in the demo from its debut episodes.)

Viewership had a bigger drop for the FX drama’s second episode to 2.46 million viewers at 10 p.m., down significantly from the 3.2 million who tuned in to its debut. Wednesday featured steeper competition, with playoff baseball and more cable/broadcast offerings in its hour.
In the younger 18-34 demo, American Horror Story sank 15 percent, while the hourlong saw a steeper 23 percent decline.
Connie Britton and Dylan McDermott lead an ensemble cast that includes Jessica Lange and Denis O’Hare.
