Taissa Farmiga plays Violet Harmon, the daughter of Ben and Vivien. The bold teen has issues with the sad state of her parents' marriage and isn't happy about being uprooted to Los Angeles. She ultimately meets Tate (Evan Peters), a patient of her father's, who helps her get a pack of "mean girls" from school off her back. Only one problem: What Tate planned more than likely didn't come out in the dark and involve fangs and claws. Ultimately, Violet is one of the series' strongest characters and isn't put off by facing her fears.
"There is a darkness in the house and she’s attracted to it," Farmiga tells THR. "I think she’s one of the keys to figuring it out and overcoming it... She’s not afraid of anything."
FXWhile Violet (Taissa Farmiga) continues to be intrigued by Tate (Evan Peters) on FX’s American Horror Story, the two will inch closer to learning very intimate details about one another during Wednesday’s first hour of its two-part Halloween event.
Until now, the duo’s exchanges have been confined to the eerie Harmon-owned estate but come Halloween, the couple will venture out of the house and among the undead during their first official date – black rose included – where Violet will learn more than she may have wanted to about her father’s unbalanced patient.
“She starts finding some answers before halfway through,” Farmiga told The Hollywood Reporter. “There’s a big Halloween two-part episode and that starts uncovering some things. She’s confused [about Tate] and she doesn’t know what to think and she gets her answers and doesn’t like them.”

While the two will share an evening beach date complete with a make-out session next to a burning fire, some visitors from Tate’s past – look for Awkward star Ashley Rickards among them — will interrupt their romantic evening that even he can’t explain.
“I think Tate does and doesn’t [know the mysteries of the house],” Peters told THR. “He’s on the level with the house but he’s also mystified by it and doesn’t really quite know what’s going on himself. Everyone is trying to figure it out.”
While Peters noted that Tate and Violet’s relationship develops throughout the course of the show, Ben (Dylan McDermott) and Vivien’s (Connie Britton) daughter “has a lot of other demons she has to get over before [she can confront the infantata]. She gets over that on her own.”

Violet, meanwhile, has continued to be unflappable when it comes to the horrors that have continued to plague her family since moving into the Los Angeles estate with a sad and twisted past.
“There’s a darkness in the house and she’s attracted to it,” Farmiga says. “I think she’s one of the keys to figuring it out and overcoming it.”
With Zachary Quinto guest starring as half of the gay couple who owned the house before the Harmons moved in, Farmiga noted that Violet — despite being scared of the evil creature occupying the basement — could continue to play the hero of the family.

“In the past, that darkness has brought down so many people and it caused even more evil happenings,” she says. “I think [Violet] could be one of the ones to make it end and solve the mystery of it. She’s not afraid of anything.”
Part 1 of American Horror Story’s two-part Halloween event airs Wednesday at 10 p.m. on FX with a marathon of the first four episodes of the Ryan Murphy-Brad Falchuk drama airing on Monday starting at 10 p.m. Part 2 of the Halloween special airs Nov. 2 at 10 p.m.
