Co-creator/showrunner Ryan Murphy announced on Tuesday that Nicks is joining the Coven. “Guess who’s visiting the Coven? The legendary Stevie Nicks!” he tweeted.
While it’s unclear whom Nicks will play, our guess is she’ll play herself and likely be a witch, sharing scenes with Lily Rabe‘s Misty Day. Rabe’s character has been greatly influenced by the iconic singer and has the power to bring things back to life.
In an interview with reporters ahead of Coven‘s October debut, Murphy said that Nicks is the only “other witch” Misty has ever known. Nicks’ impact on the character was on full display in the third episode, when Rabe mimicked one of the singer’s famed twirls.
The guest gig comes as Nicks’ music continues to be featured on Coven, with Murphy estimating that eight of her songs will be featured this season. Back in September, Murphy thanked Nicks for allowing Coven to use her original music.
The Coven role comes as Murphy continues to be influenced by Nicks and her music. During Glee‘s second season, Fleetwood Mac’s 1977 album “Rumors” was the subject of a tribute episode in which the musical series covered six songs from the album, including “Go Your Own Way,” “Dreams” and “Don’t Stop.”
Nicks is repped by APA. American Horror Story, which has already been renewed for a fourth season, airs on Wednesdays at 10 p.m. on FX.
