American Horror Story breakout Lily Rabe is adding aliens to her list of terrors.
The actress will topline ABC’s alien invasion drama pilot The Visitors, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
The drama, from executive producer Steven Spielberg, is described as a race against the clock to defeat an unseen alien enemy out to destroy the world using the Earth’s most precious resource: children.
Rabe will star as Claire, a dogged child specialist with the FBI, working on the harrowing cases where children are either the culprit or the victim. She’s a devoted mother to 7-year-old Henry, who became deaf after a tragic illness two years before. Just coming off a three-month leave following the mysterious death of her Air Force pilot husband, Claire battles her personal guilt and demons while obsessively investigating a string of strange cases involving children and their imaginary friend “Drill.”
She joins a cast that includes Revenge‘s Barry Sloane and Heroes’ Milo Ventimiglia, as well as Derek Webster, Kyle Harrison Breitkopf and Catalina Denis.
Rabe next appears in the feature Pawn Sacrifice and Jason Blum’s The Veil. She is repped by ICM Partners, Framework and Schreck Rose.
Under the Dome‘s Soo Hugh will pen the script and executive produce the Amblin TV and Grady Girl Productions entry alongside Dawn Olmstead, Justin Falvey, Darryl Frank and Spielberg. Mark Romanek will direct the pilot.
