With public reaction to nasty comments hurled by American Idol judges Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey at each other, show producers took the rare step of issuing a statement affirming its faith in the season 12 panel.
“This is one of the best, most passionate, dynamic and invested judging panels we’ve ever had,” reads the comment attributed to Idol producers. “We love and support all of the judges and the fantastic work they are doing, and we can’t imagine a better group to find the next American Idol.”

Earlier this week, video surfaced of a heated exchange between the two pas. The situation escalated when Carey phoned Barbara Walters at The View to explain her side of the story. Among the accusations: that rapper Minaj had threatened Carey with physical harm.
Reacting to the media coverage of the feud, much of which, Idol brass insist is “inaccurate,” the producers go on to say that “production is going extremely well today (Friday) and the judges are focused on finding the best talent here in Baton Rouge.”
