American Idol winner Scotty McCreery had a bit of trouble singing the National Anthem before game one of the World Series Wednesday night.
First, McCreery had to re-start the song after his microphone malfunctioned. Cameras flashed to a giant flag as it was quickly fixed.

Then fan sites point out he sang the lyrics, “No Jose does that Star Spangled banner yet wave” instead of “Oh say does that Star Spangled Banner yet wave.” Listen below and judge for yourself.
McCreery recently told Zap2It he was rehearsing: “My mom’s making me write down the lyrics on a piece of paper. And that’s how I study. That’s the way to learn.”

On Twitter Thursday morning, McCreery didn’t discuss his performance, writing, “well, as mr George Strait would say, I wasn’t here for a long time, but I was here for a good time! Great time in St. Louis yesterday!”
Before taking the field, he enthused, “sitting here watching Chris Berman and the ESPN crew in St. Louis! I am sooo pumped to be singing the anthem tonight!”

He joins a long list of celebs who have flubbed the National Anthem, including Christina Aguilera at the Super Bowl, Cyndi Lauper at the U.S. Open and Steven Tyler at the Indy 500.
McCreery’s first album, Clear as Day, topped the Billboard 200 last week, making the 18-year-old country singer the youngest male artist to do so.
