Amy Adams is headed to the Old West with her next producing project.
The six-time Oscar nominee’s Bond Group Entertainment and A24 have landed rights to Anna North’s novel Outlawed and will develop it for television.
The novel, which debuted at No. 6 on the New York Times best-seller list following its Jan. 5 publication, centers on a young midwife who’s initiated into the notorious Hole in the Wall gang and becomes part of their mission to transform the West. The feminist spin on the Western has received strong reviews and is the January pick for the Belletrist and Reese Witherspoon book clubs.
North, a senior reporter at Vox, is also the author of America Pacifica and The Life and Death of Sophie Stark.
Adams and Stacy O’Neil will executive produce the project for Bond Group, with the company’s Kate Clifford serving as co-producer. No writer is yet attached to adapt the novel.
Bond Group has previously produced HBO’s Sharp Objects (which also starred Adams) and is currently in preproduction on Netflix’s Kings of America, which reteams Adams and Vice director Adam McKay. The company is also developing Willa of the Wood, based on a series of middle-grade novels by Robert Beatty, with Entertainment One. Bond Group also has a first-look deal with HBO.
A24, meanwhile, is behind Hulu’s Ramy, HBO’s Euphoria and Showtime’s Moonbase 8, among other TV projects.
Bond Group Entertainment is repped by Linden Entertainment, WME, Narrative and Sloane Offer. Bloomsbury published Outlawed; the book is repped by Julie Barer at The Book Group and Brooke Ehrlich at Anonymous Content.
