NBC is building a second season of Making It.
The broadcast network has handed out a renewal for the unscripted series hosted by Parks and Recreation duo and longtime friends Amy Poehler and Nick Offerman. The series, from Universal Television Alternative Studio, will wrap its six-episode freshman season Sept. 4.
“Seeing firsthand the imagination of a true craftsman and, literally, watching them create something out of nothing is pure gold,” said Paul Telegdy, president of the alternative and reality group at NBC Entertainment. “Amy and Nick’s longtime friendship and affection for one another brings the show to a whole other level of fun and we look forward to seeing what season two will bring.”
Since launching July 31, Making It has averaged a 1.4 rating among the advertiser-coveted adult 18-49 demographic and 6.3 million total viewers when factoring in seven days of delayed viewing. It ranks as the most-watched new summer series on broadcast among total viewers and tied for the metric in the demo.
“We set out to make a boundlessly affirmative and inspiring show and we are thrilled with the way viewers and the press have embraced it,” said Meredith Ahr, president at Universal Television Alternative Studio. “Amy and Nick bring creativity, leadership and comedic brilliance to everything they do and we can’t wait to team up with them again and shine a light on a new group of talented makers.”
Simon Doonan and Dayna Isom Johnson serve as expert judges on Making It, which ranks as NBC’s top alternative series debut on Hulu and NBC’s digital platform, with 999,000 full-episode streams combined, besting World of Dance.
“We’re sew excited to be Making It again,” said Poehler and Offerman in a joint pun-tastic statement. “We promise season two will have you glued to your seat.”
