Ann Romney Jokes About Husband’s Dance Skills on ‘Tonight Show’ (Video)

Ann Romney sat down with The Tonight Show host Jay Leno on Tuesday for her first late-night interview, where she discussed topics ranging from the first time she met her husband to the possibility of his becoming the country’s first Mormon president.

Romney told Leno that he she met her husband of 43 years, GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney, in high school and that it was love at first sight.

“We met at this party, and I will tell you, my heart was just wonk wonk, wonk wonk,” she said. “I mean, yeah, for me, it was ?? I think for him, too.

Asked if he was a good dancer, she replied: “You know, Jay, he’s gotten to be a better dancer. ”

Quipped Leno: “Boy, that’s a political answer.”

Leno also brought up the possibility that Mitt Romney, if elected, would become the first Mormon president.

“Well, you know, I love the fact that we have the first African?American president,” Ann Romney said of Barack Obama. “That means to me that we’re leaving prejudices behind.  I would hope that if Mitt were elected, we would see more of the same, that prejudices are left behind.”

Romney also defended her husband from critics.

“I will tell you, Jay, that four years ago ?? it’s a hard thing to do this, I will say, especially being a wife and having to listen to all this stuff all the time,” she said. ” Four years ago I made a videotape, and on the videotape I looked in the camera, and I said, Mitt, this is for you, sweetheart. I’m never doing this again.”

Romney continued: “And I showed it to him. And he looked at it, and then he said, ‘You know, Ann, you say that after every pregnancy.’ Which is true,” she quipped.
