Ariana Grande is bringing fans into her world with a new docuseries for YouTube.
The first episode of the four-part Ariana Grande: Dangerous Woman Diaries is set to debut Thursday on the singer’s YouTube channel, giving viewers a behind-the-scenes look at some of the biggest moments in her career. The project will feature the making of Grande’s last album, Sweetener, concert performances, never-before-seen highlights from the Dangerous Woman Tour and moments from her One Love Manchester tribute concert.
Grande on Tuesday teased that a project with YouTube was coming, retweeting a post from music video director Alfredo Flores revealing that a project titled Dangerous Woman Diaries would soon drop. Flores helmed the project. The release of Dangerous Woman Diaries coincides with Grande’s latest single, “Thank You, Next,” for which she has also been teasing a Mean Girls-inspired music video.
Although Grande’s personal life has been in the spotlight this year, the series isn’t expected to delve into her whirlwind romance with Saturday Night Live comedian Pete Davidson or the death of ex-boyfriend Mac Miler. Instead, it will focus on Grande’s professional life during the period that spans her 2017 Dangerous Woman Tour and the creation of Sweetener.
Dangerous Woman Diaries is one of several music-centric projects at YouTube, which has long been a popular hub for music videos and cover songs. In 2017, the streamer hosted Katy Perry’s 48-hour Witness live stream and released the Demi Lovato documentary Simply Complicated. The Google-owned streamer, which launched a new music app in May, also has been highlighting musicians like Shawn Mendes and Janelle Monae through its Artist Spotlight Stories program.
New episodes of Dangerous Woman Diaries will roll out every Thursday on Grande’s YouTube channel and will be available to watch for free. Fans who want to binge the full series at once can sign up with YouTube Premium, the streamer’s $12-per-month subscription service that offers perks like an ad-free experience and downloads for offline viewing. It’s a rollout strategy that YouTube has been experimenting with and part of a new push to make all future original projects available on both its ad-supported and subscription offerings.
