Ariana Grande, Shawn Mendes and Logic with Ryan Tedder are the first group of performers set to take the stage at the upcoming MTV Video Music Awards.
Grande will perform her new single “God Is a Woman” from her upcoming album Sweetener, which is due out later this month. Grande is also a VMA nominee, with the clip for her song “No Tears Left to Cry” up for video of the year and best pop video, among other honors. Grande herself is also nominated for artist of the year.
Mendes, who is up for three VMAs, will deliver a rendition of “In My Blood,” while Logic will perform his new single, “One Day,” featuring OneRepublic’s Tedder, for the first time. Logic took the stage at last year’s VMAs to perform “1-800-273-8255,” which spurred a 50 percent increase in calls to the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline. The video for Logic’s collaboration with Alessia Cara and Khalid on the suicide-prevention track is nominated for the best collaboration and video with a message awards this year.
It was previously announced that Jennifer Lopez will perform at the VMAs for the first time since 2001, and she also is set to receive the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award. MTV later announced that Travis Scott, Post Malone and Nicki Minaj would be performing on the VMAs.
Scott will perform a medley of hits from his latest, chart-topping album Astroworld and Malone will perform a song from his album Beerbongs & Bentleys.
Minaj’s performance, presented by Pepsi, will take place from what the network called an “iconic” New York location, marking the first time a major awards show will televise a performance from this surprise place.
MTV also announced that Bazzi, Hayley Kiyoko, Jessie Reyes, Juice WRLD and PRETTYMUCH are set to perform during the VMAs on the awards ceremony’s first-ever PUSH artist stage, part of the network’s PUSH campaign connecting fans with emerging artists.
Ahead of the main ceremony, Jersey Shore stars Pauly D and Vinny Guadagnino will join actor Terrence J. and radio and TV personality Nessa to host a red-carpet preshow. Additionally, supermodel and activist Winnie Harlow will serve as the show’s fashion correspondent. The preshow will feature performances from Backstreet Boys, Bazzi and Bryce Vine and air at 8 p.m. ET/PT.

The 2018 MTV Video Music Awards are set to air live Monday, Aug. 20, at 9 p.m. ET (tape-delayed PT) from New York’s Radio City Music Hall (for a record 12th time from that venue) across MTV’s global network of channels.
