Power up that chainsaw!
Starz has renewed Ash vs. Evil Dead for a third season, sources confirm to The Hollywood Reporter.
The news comes days after the Oct. 2 season two premiere of the half-hour. The comedic follow-up to the cult classic Evil Dead sees Bruce Campbell reprise his iconic role of the chainsaw-handed monster hunter Ash Williams. The project also reunites Campbell with Evil Dead filmmakers Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert, both of whom serve as exec producers along with Campbell. Craig DiGregorio serves as showrunner on the series, which also stars Lucy Lawless, Ray Santiago, Dana DeLorenzo, Jill Marie Jones and Michelle Hurd.
Ash vs. Evil Dead‘s season two premiere marked the series’ first time airing on Sunday. Starz moved its original programming to Sundays during the summer in a bid to more aggressively compete with pay cable rivals HBO and Showtime.
Starz’s other original series include Power, Outlander, Survivor’s Remorse, Blunt Talk, The Girlfriend Experience, The Missing and Black Sails, which will wrap with its upcoming fourth season.
Ash vs. Evil Dead airs Sundays at 8 p.m. on Starz.
