Jason Katims has found his latest leading man.
Kick-Ass 2 star Augustus Prew is set to star in the Parenthood alum’s CBS medical drama pilot, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
Picked up to pilot last month, Bunker Hill follows a young Silicon Valley tech titan who enlists a veteran surgeon with a controversial past in starting a hospital with a cutting-edge, “new school” approach to medicine. Prew will play the tech billionaire, James Bell. Described as having comet-like energy, James is relentless, unapologetic, maybe brilliant, maybe just nuts, but definitely magnetic and determined to revolutionize healthcare.
Katims has a knack for finding fresh talent, such as with Friday Night Lights’ castmembers including Michael B. Jordan, Jesse Plemons and Taylor Kitsch, among others.
Katims penned the script for Bunker Hill and will executive produce alongside his Universal Television-based True Jack topper Michelle Lee. David Semel (Madam Secretary) also will exec produce and direct the pilot. Universal Television and CBS Television Studios will co-produce.
Prew’s other credits include the BBC series The Village, Discovery’s scripted mini Klondike, Showtime’s The Borgias and the upcoming Tom Hiddleston film High-Rise. He is repped by ICM and Schachter/Brown and Curtis Brown.
