COLOGNE, Germany — Tele 5, the German commercial network controlled by rights giant Tele-Munchen Group, has signed a package deal with NBCUniversal International Television Distribution that will see several cult sci-fi and fantasy series, including Battlestar Galactica, Xena: Warrior Princess and Hercules, return to German free-TV.
The deal, announced by Tele 5 program director Thomas Friedl, also includes several feature films from NBCUniversal’s library, among them the Vin Diesel sci-fi actioner Pitch Black (2000) and James Wan‘s horror title Dead Silence (2007).
The Munich-based channel is coming off a strong year, in which it saw double-digit revenue growth and its market share (in its target 20-59 demographic) grow slightly to 1.4 percent in primetime.
