The BBC and BBC America announced Wednesday that the miniseries starring Dominic West will return for a second outing in 2012 on both sides of the pond.
Creator Abi Morgan, the screenwriter behind Margaret Thatcher biopic The Iron Lady, returns to oversee the six-part installment, which will also bring in new cast members.
Peter Capaldi, Hannah Tointon and State of Play star Tom Burke will join West, Romola Garai and Ben Winshaw for the 1950s newsroom drama. The new batch of episodes will take place a year after the events of the first season, in 1957, with the world on the brink of the Cold War.
“The Hour successfully launched BBC America’s new Dramaville franchise in August by setting the standard for great British drama,” said BBC Worldwide America GM of channels Perry Simon. “Abi Morgan and the Kudos production team delivered an extraordinary television experience and when the opportunity arose for us to co-produce a sequel we jumped at it.”
Production began in the London area this week, with a three-month shoot anticipated.
